Working in silence
I tend to have the TV on in the background, even if there isn't anything worth watching. This is probably a side effect of having grown up with a big family and being allergic to silence. However, when it so happens that Grease is on TV, you do end up getting these annoying moments when you suddenly start typing "I got chills and they're electrifying" in the middle of your code.
That's the same reason why when I'm working and I need to focus, I don't turn on the radio or listen to my iPod. All of a sudden, you start focusing on what's going on in the background. Even when that doesn't happen, it's noticeably harder to concentrate.
Anyways, it's a good enough reason for me to switch off the telly and enjoy the wonderful sunshine that we're getting here.

Sunshine? You lucky guy — here in Portugal, last week[s], there has been a beautiful sunshine, almost Summer weather, but today it’s raining cats and dogs.
As for the sound matter: that makes two of us. The telly thing it’s more to the meal time—can’t have lunch without the sound of TV, even if I don’t give a damn for what’s on, but it’s better than silence. For working/studying I prefer listening to music, it’s less distracting than TV. And more: outside of home, I’d rather study at a cafeteria than at the library.
Among my many perverse habits is this. I put the tv on and turn the vol down to zero. Guess I just dont like feeling alone.
