Vegetable soap?!?
When you think of soap, do images of carrots spring to your mind? How about lettace or broccoli? No? Me neither but apparently Sainsbury seem to think that when you're lying in the bath, what you really want is a bar of vegetables to scrub your back with.

Now call me a barbarian, but as much as I like vegetables, when it come to shopping for soap, they don't really do it for me. Maybe I'm the wrong market? I'm sure the marketing guys for Sainsbury know what they're doing:
Marketing guy Jim: So Bob, we're losing ground with Tesco. Our food sales are down and they're whipping us when it comes to selling beauty products…
Marketing guy Bob: Now just hold on there Jim, I think I've got it! How about we combine food and beauty?
Marketing guy Jim: You mean like mushroom moisturisers? Mayonnaise mouthwash? Vegetable Soap?
Marketing guy Bob: Vegetable Soap! Jim, I think we've got a winner here!

I realize that Im missing the punch line, but I think what they meant is that the soap is made with vegetable oils as opposed to animal fats. Soap is a byproduct of a chemical reaction between fats/oils and lye.
Yeah I know but then that’s not as funny than my over-exaggerated convulation:-)
There are many vegitarians and vegans who don’t want to use animal products. They don’t use them in their food, but also avoid leather shoes, etc…

I guess it could have said non-animal products, or vegitarian or vegan soap. But the meaning is the same.
