Mark Russinovich ¹has a good write up on the sleazy practices of some anti-spyware products including Spyware Cleaner, Spyware Stormer and SpySheriff. SpySheriff, in particular, appears to be as bad as (and probably worse than) the problems it purports to fix by the way it almost acts as malware itself.

Spywareinfo also has a list of of rogue anti-spyware products.
